Topo Throwdown!

The Great Retopo Battle of 2010. Zbrush is really working ace for topo, it used to suck, now not so bad. Trying to get a good poly flow is a bit of a trick.

And a few hours in playing with the new tools....
Needs to have hands added, and the toes fixed. Then re-topo and done.

Ok Rob this is for you.
Trying to use Zbrush for original mesh creation.
Zspheres, Sketch Spheres, Base mesh.
With some experience this process will become the new wave of organic creation for me. Right now it's like sculpting with toothpaste.

Profession and warrior costume ideas.

Swick collects nails, pulls em' from boards and gets em' from burned boards. His Profession costume could go all over, he is a goblin after all. The warrior garb was a little more loose and fantasy based. I really like one in particular and will be developing that one for the rest of the time.

DAGD 375 Character Class

New Semester and new challenges. During this class we are to develop a goblin. This goblin will be based on concept art provided by our professor. We are to take this art and embelish it and develop a profession and a warrior role for our design. Basically when a threat develops all the goblins gather for war and take whatever they have with them to fight. I have chosen to create an Imp, a small and mischevious type of goblin.

His name is Swick.

Swick is one of 26 children born to Wirzbone the Growler, the famed Goblin Yodeler. Being an Imp meant Swick did not have the size to yodel competitively, his little lungs were too small, so he was forced to find a different profession. While still a child he saw scavenger goblins working over the remains of a burned out barn. As they sifted through the burned bits of lumber kicking up cinders and making soot swirls Swick was enchanted. These goblins did not fear fire, a difficult fear for goblins to overcome by far. His mind made up he signed on with a carpentry crew the next summer festival.

Since that time Swick has risen to Journey Apprentice Under Harvester, a very high position for an imp. He has acquired a small piece of flint in his travels to the human kingdom. This has caused some problems as he discovered that scrapping it against an old nail makes sparks, and burned buildings are full of nails.

Swick is a middle aged goblin and as such he picks on the under studies ceaselessly. It’s not so much that he is mean but they have to be shown their place in life. He gladly shows them how to use their tools and better ways to get nails freed from tight places. A quick way to fill a nail quota is to sneak into a human town at night and take all the nails out of the adventure flyers posted by the tavern.
